Located in the heart of Millbrook, Goodship Missionary Baptist Church has long stood as a beacon of hope, worship, and spiritual growth for individuals and families seeking a closer relationship with God. Through powerful preaching, heartfelt worship, and community outreach, the church continues to impact lives across the River Region.

Goodship Missionary Baptist Church was established in 1875 as the first organized Black church in Millbrook, Alabama, and for over 150 years has faithfully served as a beacon of hope, worship, and community. Through trials and triumphs, the church has stood as a steadfast symbol of faith and resilience, nurturing generations in Christian service and leaving a legacy of love, perseverance, and devotion to God.

Throughout its rich history, Goodship has been guided by strong spiritual leadership, including Reverend G.W. Bradford, Reverend L.C. Walker, Reverend C.H. Moore, Reverend C.H. Blakely, Reverend S.M. Moncrief, and Reverend V.C. Provitt, who helped lay a foundation rooted in faith, perseverance, and service. In 1979, the church entered a new era of growth under Reverend M.H. Parker, who faithfully led the congregation for 34 years, overseeing expansions, new ministries, and the rebuilding of the church after a devastating fire until his passing in 2013.

In 2014, Reverend Derwin V. Perry was called to serve as Pastor, bringing renewed vision and leadership through expanded ministries while ensuring Goodship remains a vital part of the Millbrook community. Under his leadership, the church has continued to grow beyond the sanctuary walls by investing in youth mentorship, strengthening families, and building stronger community relationships. Goodship has been recognized locally for initiatives focused on mentoring young men and fostering positive connections between citizens and law enforcement.

Our ministry is founded on biblical teaching, compassionate outreach, and a desire to serve others with excellence. From worship services and Bible study to youth development and community engagement, Goodship Missionary Baptist Church remains committed to being a place where faith grows, lives are transformed, and everyone is welcomed with love.
